In March we held our second year Peer mentor workshop this year joining forces with Kidscape, who this year led the peer mentoring workshop.

Our Children and young people spent the morning talking through:

• what it takes to become a good peer mentor?
• what is a peer mentor? 

A peer mentor is not someone’s best friend, a teacher or a super hero, but more someone who is there for support, guide and offer an ear to listen. 

Following this we went onto discuss some of the issues that you may have to deal with as a peer mentor, such as bullying, which may include verbal, emotional, physical and online. 

The half day event allowed the children/young people to fully engage in conversation having the confidence to give their opinions but more importantly listen to each other.

This was followed by a buffet lunch, along with the option to meet up in a further session
